Join Us In 2021Are you looking forward to the freedom of coming out of lockdown? You might be looking for a new outlet or looking to improve your well being after 12 months of isolation. Try taking up a sport that involves enjoyment of the open air, fun, competitiveness and making new friends.
We are looking for new members to join our bowls club and would like to invite you to join us; families and individuals of all ages are all welcome and no experience is necessary. We also have a clubhouse providing refreshments and a bar. During the winter period we continue playing (short mat) bowls indoors and have social evenings, so we cater for you all year round. We have specific open days planned for Sunday 2nd May 2021 and Monday 31st May 2021 together with other open evenings planned, which includes free coaching and use of equipment. |

Bowls truly is the ‘sport for all’.
It can be played by all ages, abilities and sexes - making it the perfect sport for all members of your family to enjoy together. Like all sports, the object of bowls is essentially simple, but to be able to play consistently well demands determination and concentration. Bowls is a sport for life - just try it! It has been medically proven that bowls improves your general health and helps to strengthen the immune system. |
Bowls gives your muscles and joints good exercise. You will be more capable of participating in everyday tasks which helps to increase confidence, self-esteem and mental health. Regular bowls playing will improve strength, reduced risk of falls considerably, reduce mobility-related illness and promote longevity and health.
The game provides good all round physical activity for the body and the social side boosts psychological and emotional health. Bowls is primarily aerobic and provides valuable cardiovascular exercise as well as stretching the muscles which you use. All of this means during an average game, you will:

Bowling, especially in a league, attracts people from all walks of life. It’s a great way to meet new friends outside of work or school. Bowling is both a sport and leisure activity, which makes it easy to connect with teammates without interrupting anything. You’ll always have something to discuss with teammates, even if it’s just the game. |

Just come along on any of our Open Days with a pair of flat-soled shoes/trainers and you're ready to play ! There'll be several club members waiting to welcome you and introduce you to the club. If you're a beginner, they'll help you get started and help you get the most out of your visit. Subject to the prevailing regulations, the club bar will be open.
